Contemporary Steelwork Design
Contemporary steelwork pieces are a joy to watch come to life. The examples here - Gothic-style estate gates, a showpiece staircase chosen to front a national magazine and an ornate public artwork - are just three examples of what is possible.
Estate of Play
A series of estate gates were designed not only as an effective visual deterrent, creating a sense of security and privacy for the client, but also as a unique and exciting first impression of the estate itself.
FBS Metalworks founder Craig Inglis who designed and manufactured them at our East Lothian workshops, explained: "I developed this contemporary steelwork design following discussions with the client to evolve the kind of solution required.
"What emerged was this striking structure which combines a sense of medieval Gothic with all the strength and endurance of modern materials and structure, fully galvanised and powder-coated. It even opens and closes at the press of a button."
Stairway to Success
The staircase which featured on a Scotland on Sunday homes supplement was a complete contrast, providing an artful, organic-style focal point to the client's home. The common factor is that each is a unique, attractive creation which also fulfils its very practical purpose.
Organic was also the theme of this elaborately designed public bench for the East Lothian town of North Berwick. It now sits proudly encircling a historic tree in the town's main thoroughfare. Details and further pictures of the project are on this link.
